Latest Version - 0.10.0 0 - Big Update
A Taste for the King has gone through several iterations since the print and play version was last updated.
I have been trying to reduce the downtime in the game.
The game has gone from a solo game played by several people to a much more interactive one. Players now show their hand to their opponents who can gossip about the cards. The player can then choose to discard cards to their opponents, hoping to counter play bluffs.
Action cards can now be played by any player who receives them and players have to bluff carefully lest they bluff their way into a poison, losing precious progress.
Ultimately the game still has the same core and theme. Players are vying to finish each dish on the menu first, drawing 3 cards at a time and trying to avoid poisons!
The game has had a minor balancing adjustment. There is now one more poison in the game, giving each course an equal chance of having a losing amount of poison in it. Previously one course would always have 1 less chance for a poison to be drawn. This has ended up requiring 1 less action card in the deck, however the action cards are now all unique with no duplicates which feels a little nicer.
I hope you're excited to try the latest iteration of the game!
And what better time to try a game about Medieval royalty trying to take the throne for themselves than during the coronation this weekend!!
