Version 0.0.15


Another minor update, I continue to fill in the game bit by bit.

The neighbourhood now has:

  • Interactive items that need collecting before the player can enter the house. (This should fix a potential issue with the previous build where players could not progress to the house level.
  • Expositional dialogue

I managed to fix a glitch with the player's interaction UI so now a floating UI appears over the player to tell you when something is interactive. (The children also display their current state on a similar UI but this is just for development/debugging and should be removed in upcoming versions.

TODO

  • Finish the neighbourhood layout. It's a LOT of work to layout, no wonder I struggled during the jam. I don't want it to be too cluttered, thus preventing the eye from ever seeing the player but I also want it to look like a believable neighbourhood with cut-throughs and shortcuts, dead ends and places to hide.
  • More dialogue
  • Perhaps a UI to show how many ritual items need to be collected before entry to the house will be granted.
  • Some sort of indication/hint as to where the items are on the map.
  • More children.
  • Fix some AI navigation issues with the Chaser.
  • Better texturing/materials around most of the game.
  • Improve some of the level models for the house interiors.
  • General improvement of horror atmosphere, perhaps through the use of custom made models.
