I have just updated The Royal Guard with the following changes:

Bugfixes

1. Slight improvement to end game detection. The game should only end in a failure if:
   • An enemy royal enters the throne room uncontested or if more enemies are in the throne room with contesting royals.
   • You send your own monarch to jail.
   • The deck empties twice and you haven't let at least one of your monarchs into the throne room.
2. Fixed issue with overlapping audio.
3. Incidentally fixed the >2 question bug. Though this should also be fixed if I return the game to a multi-card draw.

Features

• Updated the game to draw only 1 card instead of 2 - allowing the questions and answers UI to always be visible.
• Rearranged the interface so everything is visible on screen at once (related to previous point.)
• Added more variety of colour to the interface.
• Added tooltips to some of the interface to try and help onboard players.
• Made the card count hint dynamic. When cards are revealed either in jail or the throne room they are removed from the card count.

Future Updates

• Further improvements to the logic of the game so it's less luck based and easier to detect issues with peoples' stories.
• I want to potentially give the player extra abilities/checks if they get a monarch into the throne room. For example the ability to ask an extra question or extend the number of times cards come around.
• Add settings for volume etc.

Other

• Given how different the game is now I will shortly upload a new project with the original HTML build for comparison of the original jam submission.
• I will need to update the current page to reflect the new rules.
