Let's Go Camping!

Several retired army friends go on a hunting trip on the outskirts of the country when they notice an invasion force moving across the border. They decide to camp out along the forest road and snipe the enemy forces into submission!!!

Let's Go Camping is a TriJam 198 entry, made in 3 hours.

Story

I had the idea to make a game where you played as 5 shooters. You would have to preserve your ammo and make your shots count. The shooters would have to move between 9 different vantage points or to restock on ammo, exposing themselves to the enemies. Missed shots would alert enemies within range.

In the end I was only able to get the basics done, so it's basically a tower defence where you pick which of the 9 defenses shoot. I quite like the idea, I would like to maybe do some more development on it, implementing all the mechanics I intended to do. I think with a little time spent balancing the game for movement speed, more obstacles and the rest of the mechanics it could be a fun take on the tower defence genre.

There is currently no real difficulty unless you're REALLY bad at aiming. You have ~300 shots to get rid of 52 enemies but try playing badly to see what the extra routes WOULD have looked like had they been fully implemented.

Bugs

Nothing serious but shooters can't shoot with a full clip if their ammo reserves are depleted. Simple fix but that's a post jam thing.

Sometimes if you shoot with wild abandon enemies might go zombified.

I enjoyed it a lot, but I didn't understand what the black bars where. At first I thought they were shields and I couldn't shoot through them. Pretty cool otherwise.

Thanks they're the health bars but I realised too late they were too big and I didn't have time to fix it.
